Research Interests

Hello!

My name is Cara Kowalchyk. I thoroughly enjoy fieldwork, especially out on the water! I am drawn to applied research, focusing on practical solutions to important water quality or ecosystem problems.

I graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences and Anthropology in 2015.

I am currently pursuing a Masters degree at North Carolina State University in the department of Applied Ecology with a major in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology under Dr. Fischer and Dr.Reading. The focus of our research is to identify and gather life history information needed for stock assessment models for a recreationally important species: Striped Bass.
